Here’s some tips for you to try as you begin each work week…
These may not apply to everyone, but can help for a long, happy, and satisfying career. Whether you work for a company, or work for yourself, think about why you are working in the first place.
Research show that proves working long hours can be counterproductive. This does not mean you shouldn’t put in some occasional long days.
Working too much and the stress that goes along with it can lead to depression, sleep problems, impaired memory, and even heart disease.
#1. Leave On Time
Even though you have a job you love, “too much of a good thing becomes bad.” You can work hard, and some days you may work longer, but you must know when to quit.
When I became self-employed, I would be up working at 5 AM and wouldn’t stop until after midnight. This went on for weeks at a time. Now that’s too much. Use the hours set for you at work as a guide to leave on time. Or, if self-employed, set your work hours and stick to it.
You must protect yourself against too much work. When it’s time to go home, GO! It’s not as difficult as it seems, just leave.
No one needs you to be at the office 24/7. Only your ego does. Honestly, the office will be here tomorrow. Your co-workers will still be alive. You company will not go bust.
Work is about achieving results. If you can’t do that in 6–8 hours a day, you’re not effective.
#2. Leave Your Work At Work
So if you are leaving on time but bringing the work home with you, what’s the point? That defeats the whole purpose.
We all may have to bring work home with us from time to time, but this should not be a daily practice.
Set some sort of boundaries to not allow yourself to bring work home. That time when you are at home is for you, your family, your hobbies, or whatever.

Too much work has a negative impact on the quality of your life and work. So why do we do it? For each person there is a different reason.
We leave work on time, and we leave our work at work. Keep it simple for your own good.
